Thailand will meet Oman at Abdullah bin Khalifa Stadium, at 5:30 p.m. (Doha time), and 9:30 p.m. ( Hanoi time) on Sunday, January 21, 2024. In the first round, Thailand beat Kyrgyzstan 2-0 to top Group F, while Oman lost 1-2 to Saudi Arabia.

Thailand is missing some key players such as center back Manuel Bihr, midfielder Chanathip Songkrasin or striker Teerasil Dangda. However, they still have attacking players from foreign clubs, notably brothers Supachok Sarachat and Suphanat Mueanta. Striker Supachai Chaided is also in form with a double in the opening match.

In defense, Thailand can use a pair of central defenders who are 1.90 m or taller, Pansa Hemviboon and Elias Dolah. Right-back Nicholas Mickelson has a lot of experience playing in the Danish championship, while left-back Theerathon Bunmathan won the J-League with Yokohama F Marinos.

Oman is currently ranked 74th in FIFA, 39 places above Thailand. They beat Vietnam in both matches in the third qualifying round of the 2022 World Cup. They have only one player playing abroad, midfielder Jameel Al-Yahmadi in the second tier of Qatar.
