Russia's security service accused Mr Prigozhin of inciting rebellion after he said his forces would investigate the Wagner camp raid.
"The statements spread on behalf of Yevgeny Prigozhin are completely unfounded. In connection with these statements, the Russian Federal Security Service has started an investigation into the call for an armed rebellion. We demand an immediate halt to illegal actions," the Russian National Anti-Terrorism Committee announced on June 23.
Earlier, the private military corporation Wagner announced that its training camp was attacked by missiles, causing heavy casualties. Mr. Prigozhin accused the Russian military of being behind the attack and the leadership of the Russian Defense Ministry ordered the relocation of more than 2,000 bodies to another place to cover up the information.
"Those who took the lives of our comrades and ruined the lives of tens of thousands of Russian servicemen will be punished. There are 25,000 of us and we will make it clear why the country is in chaos," Mr. Prighozin declared.

The Russian Defense Ministry said on June 23 that all messages and videos circulating on social media about the attack on the Wagner group's rear base "are not true and are provocative information."
"Taking advantage of Prigozhin's provocation to disrupt the situation, the Ukrainian military concentrated units of the 35th Marine Brigade and the 36th Mechanized Brigade in the Bakhmut direction," the Russian Defense Ministry said. "The Yug wing is defeating the enemy with air strikes and artillery fire."
