The exhibitions introduce images of the historic moment in December 1946, when, in response to President Ho Chi Minh 's call for national resistance, the army and people of Hanoi bravely fought, opening the long and arduous resistance war against French colonialism.
With rudimentary weapons, Hanoians bravely defended every house and street corner, trapping the enemy in the heart of the city for 60 days and nights. The suicide soldiers of the Capital Regiment were ready to hug three-pronged bombs and rush into enemy tanks. Countless young men heroically fell, keeping their oath of “Die for the survival of the Fatherland”.
Many comrades fell into the enemy’s hands. In prison, the soldiers still fought steadfastly to return to the revolution and the people. During 60 days and nights of fierce fighting with the enemy, the soldiers and people turned Hanoi into an indomitable fortress, steadfast with steadfast faith and a burning desire for freedom.
