The Chinese Football Association (CFA) is focusing on investing in the country's U23 players to prepare for the 19th ASIAD held at home.

Many Chinese players do not want to participate in ASIAD 19.

The CFA sees the upcoming tournament as an opportunity for Chinese football to revive after years of decline.

But CFA's ambitions were immediately doused with cold water when many young players refused to join the Chinese U23 team.

The media in the country of a billion people has not yet revealed specifically which players do not want to contribute to the U23 China team at the 19th ASIAD.

However, according to Sohu newspaper, the refusal of these players to join the national team is completely reasonable.

China's leading sports daily analyzed: "In the Olympic team, there has long been a trend of members not wanting to be called up.

The Asian Games are not part of FIFA and are scheduled to coincide with the Chinese Super League (China's national championship). This naturally leads to players not paying attention to it.

Players' income is directly related to playing for their home club, so it is clear that they lack motivation to serve the national team."

Another reason is that in recent years, Chinese national teams at all levels have not achieved any significant titles.

In addition, after each failure, the players become the target of attack, so they feel "fearful every time they are called up to the national team".

At ASIAD 19, China is in a fairly easy group with 3 weaker opponents: Bangladesh, Myanmar and India.

Meanwhile, Vietnam is in Group B with Saudi Arabia, Iran and Mongolia.

This is one of the two heaviest groups at ASIAD 19 (alongside group E including Thailand, South Korea, Bahrain and Kuwait).

Men's football at ASIAD 19 will take place from September 19 to October 7 in China.
