The Admissions Council of Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy has just announced the list of candidates submitting copies of international English certificates (IELTS/TOEFL iBT), SAT results used for admission to full-time university programs in 2025, applicable to method 2.
This year, Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy will enroll students in 4 ways. Method 1 is based on the results of the 2025 high school graduation exam; Method 2 is based on the results of the 2025 high school graduation exam with international certificates; Method 3 is based on direct admission according to the regulations of the Admission Regulations (Article 8); Method 4 is reserved for university preparatory candidates.
According to method 2, candidates with international certificates will have points added according to school regulations and applied to all training majors.
The threshold for additional points is IELTS Academic 6.0 or higher, TOEFL iBT 80 or higher. Candidates must have an international SAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test) certificate of 1,340 points or higher.
According to the list announced yesterday (July 19), up to 1,744 candidates submitted copies of international language certificates and SAT results (a sharp increase compared to last year). Of which, most candidates submitted copies of IELTS certificates from 6.0 level or higher. Although the school also accepts TOEFL iBT, only a few candidates have this certificate. The number of candidates with SAT results but no foreign language certificate accounts for a very small percentage.
Notably, among the more than 1,700 candidates listed according to school statistics, over 160 cases simultaneously obtained both IELTS and SAT certificates.
Candidates will have their foreign language certificate and SAT scores combined.
According to the announcement of Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy, bonus points will only be calculated when candidates have submitted certified copies of international English certificates (IELTS/TOEFL iBT), SAT results as prescribed and meet the requirements for bonus points.
Admission score = total score of 3 exam subjects (a) + priority points (b) + bonus points (c) (calculated on a 30-point scale).
(a) = exam scores of math + biology + chemistry/math + physics + chemistry/math + biology + literature/math + biology + English; (b) = priority points by region and subject; (c) = bonus points for international certificates rounded to two decimal places before being added to the admission score.
International English certificate (choose only 1 of 2): IELTS bonus points = 0.9 x IELTS score/9; TOEFL iBT bonus points = 0.9 x TOEFL iBT score/120. SAT international certificate, bonus points are calculated as follows: SAT = 0.9 x SAT score/1,600.
According to the formula, it can be seen that the bonus points of candidates applying to the University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Ho Chi Minh City in this method depend on the international certificate scores they achieve. For example, a candidate with a score of 6.0 IELTS will have a bonus point of 0.6 points; a candidate with a score of 9.0 IELTS will have a bonus point of 0.9 points.
In addition, according to the school representative, in case of having both an international language certificate and SAT results as prescribed, candidates will have their scores added together for both criteria in the total admission score. According to this calculation, candidates who have both a foreign language certificate and SAT results will have more advantages in the admission method 2 of Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy this year.
In 2025, Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy will enroll 2,576 students. Of which, the medical major will enroll 420 students, the dental-maxillofacial major will enroll 126 students, and the pharmacy major will enroll 560 students. On July 14, the University announced the list of the first 13 students eligible to be admitted to the university under the 3-way direct admission method according to the regulations of the Admission Regulations (Article 8).
