Tuan Giao: 96% of rural households have access to clean water.

Dien Bien TV - Continuing the thematic supervision program of the Provincial People's Council, on the morning of April 16, Supervisory Team No. 2 led by Mr. Mua Thanh Son, Head of the Ethnic Committee of the Provincial People's Council, had a working session with the People's Committee of Tuan Giao district.

The head of Supervisory Team No. 2 agreed on the working content with Tuan Giao district.

Tuan Giao district currently has 140 domestic water works, of which 135 works are managed by the district People's Committee. At this time, there are 32 works operating effectively; 72 works operating ineffectively and 36 works not operating effectively.

In the 2021-2024 period, the district has built, upgraded and repaired 7 works, raising the rate of rural households using hygienic water to 96%; the rate of households using clean water meeting standards to 23%; the rate of poor households using hygienic water to nearly 90%.

After investment and construction, concentrated rural water supply works are assigned to the People's Committees of communes and towns to receive, organize, manage and use according to the cooperative model.

Monitoring team No. 2 conducted on-site inspections at a number of domestic water supply works in Tuan Giao district.

However, concentrated rural water supply projects were invested and built a long time ago, many projects have been damaged and degraded; some projects are currently not operating due to water depletion; capital for maintenance and repair is limited; the project management model still reveals many limitations...

Tuan Giao district proposed to be provided with additional funding to upgrade and repair severely damaged and degraded works; support the management and operation of domestic water supply works in difficult areas; and at the same time, strengthen the organization of training courses and improve the management capacity of management and operation teams of centralized domestic water supply works in the area.

The local recommendations and proposals have been fully received and synthesized by the Monitoring Team.
