Taking on the male lead role in the movie Claws by director Le Thanh Son, Tuan Tran attracted attention with his rebellious, dusty appearance.
In recent years, he has become a valuable name in Vietnamese cinema when he starred in blockbuster projects such as: Bo Gia (427 billion VND), Dat Rung Phuong Nam (140 billion VND) and recently Mai (530 billion VND). With outstanding revenue from his films, he is affectionately called "a thousand billion actor".
The success also became an obstacle for the actor in his career path. With Claw , Tuan Tran said he felt some pressure and fear of repetition, causing the audience to assume he had "nothing new".
He said: "What I'm worried about is the frequency of my appearances in the past time. In 1 year, I have projects such as Southern Forest Land, Mai and coming soon, Mong Cao. I'm always worried, asking myself whether I have anything new for the audience to see or not. I try to exercise every day, put pressure on myself and try little by little."
In each film, he always chooses a new role so that the audience does not get bored. The actor also spends a lot of time researching and delving into the character from style, gestures, image to skills...
Tuan Tran's appearance in the movie "Claws".
After the success of his previous roles, Tuan Tran is still very positive that maybe the audience will like Thang's image - the role he plays in Claws - more than other films.
“Thang is a very new character. When I receive the script, I have to think about whether I have anything new for the audience to see. For each script, I have to see how I change. To make a film, it takes me 5-6 months for pre-production, I can’t just read the script and go straight to the set. I want the character to have the gestures, stance, and image that best suits the film. Luckily, the 3 films have 3 different images and lifestyles. I hope everyone will love Thang the way they loved Sau in the film Mai,” Tuan Tran expressed.
Tuan Tran also said he used his own salary to invest in Claws . He trusted director Le Thanh Son so much that he decided to accept the role without reading the script.
Director Le Thanh Son and the main cast of the film.
Claws is a film project that director Le Thanh Son spent 7 years developing and perfecting the script. The project attracted attention with its unique survival content, almost untapped by any Vietnamese filmmaker.
Although his filmography only includes two projects, Dragon Trap (2009) and Em chua 18 (2017) , each of his brainchilds has created memorable milestones. After the martial arts action genre and then school romance, director Le Thanh Son's attempt at the survival theme is expected to create the next hundred-billion box office fever.
The director also hopes that Claws will continue to be well received by audiences. He also hopes that his project will bring in 300 billion VND to break even.
