Before the 4th Engineering Team prepared to depart for the United Nations peacekeeping mission at the UNISFA mission (Abyei region), on the morning of September 16, the Vietnam Peacekeeping Department ( Ministry of National Defense ) held an incense offering ceremony at the Monument to Heroic Martyrs on Bac Son Street (Hanoi) and reported their achievements to Uncle Ho at the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum.
Expressing his honor and pride in reporting to Uncle Ho the positive results in the preparation and deployment of the 4th Engineering Team to participate in the United Nations peacekeeping operations, Major General Pham Manh Thang, Director of the Vietnam Peacekeeping Department, emphasized that with its functions and tasks as the Standing Agency of the Inter-sectoral Working Group, the Ministry of National Defense's Steering Committee on Vietnam's participation in the United Nations peacekeeping operations, the agency has actively and proactively researched and advised the Party, State, Government , Central Military Commission, and Ministry of National Defense on the Vietnam People's Army's participation in the United Nations peacekeeping operations.
The Vietnam Peacekeeping Department regularly coordinates closely with agencies and units to select, train and deploy forces; at the same time, manages, commands and operates all forces of the Vietnam People's Army participating in United Nations peacekeeping operations, ensuring the successful and excellent completion of all assigned tasks.
Soldiers of Engineering Team No. 4 are selected from agencies and units of the Army, with solid political qualities.
Before deploying to the UNISFA mission, officers and soldiers of Engineering Team No. 4 underwent training in professional capacity and foreign language skills, ensuring they met the requirements of the United Nations.
Major General Pham Manh Thang affirmed that, promoting the achieved results, all preparations for the 4th Engineer Team have been basically completed. The officers and staff of the 4th Engineer Team are assured of their work, ready to depart to carry out their noble mission of maintaining United Nations peace. According to the plan, the 4th Engineer Team with 169 officers and staff is expected to depart for the UNISFA mission on September 26.
Before the spirit of Uncle Ho, on behalf of the collective of officers and staff of the Vietnam Peacekeeping Department, Major General Pham Manh Thang, Director of the Vietnam Peacekeeping Department, pledged his determination to Uncle Ho, officers and soldiers of the Vietnam peacekeeping force in general, as well as the 4th Engineering Team in particular, to always maintain political steadfastness, maintain internal solidarity, be of one mind, overcome all difficulties to excellently complete all tasks entrusted by the Party, State and Army; through practical actions, continue to contribute to spreading the good qualities of Uncle Ho's soldiers in the new period and the image of the Vietnam People's Army to international friends.

Participating in United Nations peacekeeping activities is a major policy of the Party and State to concretize the foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, peace, cooperation and development; diversifying and multilateralizing international relations.
This is one of the important contents of defense diplomacy, both political and diplomatic in nature and requiring military capacity, contributing to enhancing the prestige and position of the country and spreading the image and noble qualities of Uncle Ho's soldiers to international friends.
After more than 11 years of establishment, the Vietnamese peacekeeping force has continuously grown and matured, participating more and more deeply in many fields, with many important positions working at the United Nations Headquarters and missions.
To date, the Ministry of National Defense has sent about 1,100 officers and professional soldiers to participate in United Nations peacekeeping operations as individuals and units, including 6 level 2 field hospitals and 3 engineering teams, along with more than 140 officers as individuals.
After being deployed to the UNISFA mission, the Vietnamese Engineering teams quickly stabilized, quickly grasped the local situation and successfully completed their tasks during their term of office; they were highly appreciated by the mission leaders, colleagues and international friends for their capacity, spirit and working attitude.
In the civil work, the Vietnamese Engineering teams also actively helped local people, built bridges, roads and repaired many other works, and were thanked and recognized by the local government and people for their contribution to changing the face of the locality where the mission was stationed.../.
