Vietnam futsal team determined to pass Asian qualifying round

"For me personally, this is a challenging group. There may be different opinions about the level of the teams, but in my opinion all three opponents are quality teams. This is certainly not an easy group," coach Diego Giustozzi said at a press conference on September 19 ahead of the 2026 Asian futsal qualifiers which will start tomorrow (September 20).

In the 2026 Asian futsal qualifiers, the Vietnamese futsal team is in Group E, along with opponents Hong Kong (China), China and Lebanon, competing at the Linping Sport Center Gymnasium, Hangzhou (China).

“We had 3 weeks of training in Vietnam, followed by 10 days of training in Kuwait and China. I think the whole team has prepared well for this mission,” coach Diego Giustozzi shared about the preparation process of the Vietnamese futsal team towards the goal of winning a ticket to the final round.

The Argentine strategist also frankly admitted that the Vietnamese futsal team will face many difficulties when the group has many strong opponents, but will try their best to pass the qualifying round.

"The coaching staff always tries to prepare the players mentally for the match. I believe in my players, and as long as they are confident in themselves, we will have nothing to worry about," said the 47-year-old coach.

Also at the press conference, captain Pham Duc Hoa expressed the determination and optimism of the whole team. He said: “We players are all trying our best with the goal of passing the qualifying round with the maximum points and the most convincing performances.”

According to the schedule, the Vietnamese futsal team will have their opening match against the Hong Kong futsal team (China) at 2:30 p.m. on September 20, then meet China on September 22 and Lebanon on September 24.
