Europe

* Ukraine has been warned of violations by the Convention on the Prohibition of Anti-Personnel Mines (Ottawa Convention). Accordingly, Kiev's receipt of anti-personnel mines from the US would be a direct violation of this document.

According to the announcement, Ukraine has not yet informed the member states of the Ottawa Convention about its intention to use anti-personnel mines. (AFP)

* A Ukrainian delegation arrived in South Korea to request arms aid , led by Defense Minister Rustem Umerov. The delegation met with President Yoon Suk Yeol and South Korean National Security Adviser Shin Won Sik to exchange views on the conflict in Ukraine.

At the meeting, the South Korean President expressed hope that the two countries would respond effectively to the risks from military cooperation between Russia and North Korea. (Yonhap)

* Russia has issued an entry ban on 30 British citizens, including a series of ministers in the current British Labour cabinet such as Deputy Prime Minister Angela Rayner, Finance Minister Rachel Reeves, Home Secretary Yvette Cooper...

Those banned from entering Russia to work in British political bodies, military blocs, high-tech companies and media companies, in response to London's "hostile actions".

Russia has also expelled a British diplomat on espionage charges. (AFP)

* European Commission (EC) President Ursula von der Leyen called on the European Union (EU) to urgently increase defense spending to match Russia's, noting that there is "no time to waste" amid ongoing fighting on the bloc's borders. (AFP)

* Switzerland joins the EU Defence Innovation Hub (HEDI) to promote international cooperation on security, after ratifying the move.

In a statement on November 27, the Swiss government said that joining HEDI will allow the country to access information on technological decisions and developments, as well as gain access to in-depth networks and innovation activities. (Reuters)

* The Czech Republic and North Macedonia were elected to the Executive Council of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) with 128 and 86 votes, respectively. (TASS)

* South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol warned of an increased threat from North Korea's troop deployment to Russia, urging the military to maintain high combat readiness.

* Russia and Malaysia hold joint military exercises in the South China Sea, with Moscow deploying its new Kilo II-class Ufa attack submarine. The exercise is called PASSEX. (Zona-militar)

* A Malaysian court has dismissed corruption charges related to the 1MDB scandal against former Prime Minister Najib Razak and former Finance Minister Irwan Serigar Abdullah.

The 1MDB scandal is one of the biggest financial scandals in Malaysia's history. Mr. Najib and Mr. Irwan are accused of six counts of breach of trust, involving a government fund worth 6.6 billion Ringgit ($1.48 billion). (Reuters)

* The ASEAN Community Statistical System (ACSS) Committee opened its 14th meeting in Vientiane, Laos, on November 26. At the meeting, the ACSS called on development partners to continue working with governments to ensure the sustainability of national statistical systems. (Vientiane mai)

Middle East-Africa

* Israel and Hezbollah agreed to a ceasefire proposed by the US, which will take effect from 9am on November 27 (Vietnam time). This move was warmly welcomed by the international community. The United Nations, the US, Germany, Iran, Palestine... expressed their support.

Hamas, the movement in the Gaza Strip, said it was ready for a ceasefire and would cooperate with all efforts to ensure its implementation in Gaza. (AFP, VNA)

* Lebanese people are rushing home after the ceasefire with Israel. Traffic on the road from Beirut to the southern city of Sidon has been jammed since early morning with long lines of vehicles carrying repatriates and their belongings.

* Resolving the Palestinian issue is key to ending the escalation of regional conflicts, according to Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas on November 26.

* Mexico wants to have in-depth discussions with Canada on the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA), according to a letter sent by Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum to Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

According to President Sheinbaum, the content of the letter will provide a series of data that is “important to know” in the context of Canadian politicians criticizing excessive Chinese investment projects in the country of Mexico. (Yucatan Times)

* The US has added the nuclear-powered submarine USS Minnesota - one of the country's newest nuclear-powered fast attack submarines - to Guam.

The Virginia-class USS Minnesota, which has been operating in Hawaii since 2022, arrived at its new port on November 26 in what the US Navy described as a "strategic deployment plan for naval forces in the Indo-Pacific region". (SCMP)

* Parties in the US signed a power transfer agreement, officially allowing US President-elect Donald Trump to begin the power transition process with the current administration of President Joe Biden after many weeks of delay.

This allows the incoming US cabinet to begin crucial preparations, including deploying advance teams to all departments and agencies, and completing an orderly transition of power. (ABC News)
