Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Trung Kien, Head of Co To Border Guard Station, said: The unit has mobilized 100% of its personnel to participate in storm prevention work. Up to now, nearly 100 vessels operating at sea under the Station's management have been called to safe shelters, no other means of operation at sea. The Station has conducted close checks and inspections to ensure that all fishermen have returned to shore.
According to the Border Guard Station, there are currently 41 tourists on the island, including 5 foreigners. These tourists are staying at hotels on the island and have not yet proposed to the government about a plan to support food and accommodation.
Previously, from September 22, Co To Border Guard Station issued an order prohibiting all boats from leaving port. The functional forces coordinated with local authorities and ship owners to guide the vehicles to anchor safely; the work of counting and arranging boats was carried out strictly, ensuring that no vehicles were operating at sea. The station also fired warning flares, assigned officers and soldiers to coordinate with local authorities to call on boats to urgently take shelter, absolutely not allowing fishermen and vehicles to stay in dangerous areas.
Co To Border Guard Station recommends that ship owners and fishermen regularly monitor weather forecasts and maintain contact with authorities to respond promptly and ensure safety of life and property before the super typhoon makes landfall.
Regarding ensuring safety for ships and boats operating in the waters of Quang Ninh, the Department of Agriculture and Environment requests the Department of Construction, the Quang Ninh Maritime Port Authority, the Inland Waterways Port Authority, and the People's Committees of coastal localities to temporarily suspend granting licenses for watercraft to go out to sea (may consider allowing ships to return to shelters, anchor, and complete this work before 2:00 p.m. on September 24); temporarily suspend granting licenses for sightseeing and accommodation activities at sea. The suspension of ship licenses will begin at 10:00 a.m. on September 24 and will end when there is the final news about storm No. 9.
