Who is the only candidate recommended for consideration as associate professor of literature?

(Dan Tri) - Ms. Le Thi Thanh Tam is the only candidate proposed for the title of associate professor in the field of literature in 2025. No one in this field has been proposed for the title of professor.

The State Council of Professors has just announced a list of 933 candidates recommended by the Council of Professors to be considered for recognition as meeting the standards for the title of professor and associate professor in 26 fields/interdisciplinary fields in 2025. Notably, the field of literature has only 1 candidate.

She is Dr. Le Thi Thanh Tam, Head of the Department of Vietnamese Studies and Language, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi.

Dr. Thanh Tam was born in 1975, from Ba Ria - Vung Tau , graduated with a BA in Literature from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Ho Chi Minh City National University in 1997. Also at this school, in 2007, she received a PhD in Literature, majoring in Literary Theory and History.

Regarding her work history, Dr. Thanh Tam worked as a research intern at the Ho Chi Minh City Institute of Social Sciences and a lecturer at the Faculty of Literature and Journalism, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Ho Chi Minh City National University.

Since 2012, she has been working in Hanoi as a lecturer and Head of the Department of Literature, Faculty of Vietnamese Studies and Language, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi. Since 2021, she has held the position of Head of the Department.

Ms. Le Thi Thanh Tam spent 1 year as an international scholar researching Japanese studies at Tokyo University of Foreign Studies, Japan. From April 2016 to March 2018, she was a part-time Associate Professor at this school.

Dr. Le Thi Thanh Tam's main research directions include: Vietnamese literature in the East Asian context; religion in relation to literature, philosophy, aesthetics; Vietnamese language and Vietnamese studies.

She has published 41 scientific articles, including 2 scientific articles in prestigious international journals.

Literature is the only major out of 26 majors/interdisciplinary majors that has only 1 candidate recommended by the Faculty Council.

According to the plan, from August 29 to September 26, the professional and interdisciplinary professor councils will consider and recognize the qualifications for the title of professor and associate professor in 2025. Finally, the State Council of Professors will meet to consider from October 20 to 31.
