Transporting 100 kg of drugs, 5 Lao people were prosecuted

On the morning of April 22, the Quang Tri Provincial Police Department announced that it had prosecuted and detained five Lao suspects to investigate the case of transporting 100 kg of drugs from Laos to Vietnam. The five suspects include: Tik Xayasane (27 years old), Lembi Kingvannouvong (25 years old), Sengphet Keosevan (28 years old), Sisamout Sisomboun (28 years old), Sengphet Keonouvong (38 years old, all residing in Bolykhamxay province).

Previously, on the afternoon of March 30, on National Highway 9, passing through Lang Vay village (Tan Long commune, Huong Hoa district), Quang Tri province's functional forces discovered 5 Lao people illegally transporting drugs. The seized evidence included 100 white and yellow plastic bags containing white crystalline substances, weighing 100 kg (suspected methamphetamine) along with a car with a Lao license plate.

Quickly exploiting, the authorities coordinated to arrest 4 more Lao women in Khe Sanh town (Huong Hoa district).

Quang Tri province authorities busted a major drug case

Through appraisal, authorities determined that 100 kg of evidence seized in the case was methamphetamine.

After receiving the appraisal results, Thuan Border Guard Station (Huong Hoa District) decided to initiate a criminal case of illegal drug transportation; at the same time, hand over the case file, evidence, and vehicle to Quang Tri Provincial Police for further handling according to regulations.

After receiving the case, Quang Tri Provincial Police prosecuted and detained five Lao suspects to investigate and clarify the case of illegal drug transportation.

Quang Tri Border Guard completed exit procedures and handed over four Laotian female suspects to Lao authorities for handling. Based on the initial investigation results, the task force determined that the four female suspects did not know about and were not involved in the illegal drug trafficking; they entered Vietnam legally.
