The river section chosen as the racetrack is quite beautiful, wide and straight with calm water, running from Ba Bai wharf along the green rice fields along Soi Doi field to Ruong Lay field. The racers turn around there.

Boat racing on Dam River is a traditional spring cultural activity of the people in Tam Thang, Tam Ky countryside.

Small village, small river, each racing boat has only 13 rowers. The racers are mostly young and strong men in the village, except for the rower (sitting at the back holding the oar) who is usually older, experienced, calm, and decisive in turning the boat through the canal.

The Dam River boat race was expanded with the participation of racing boats from many other localities in the province.

Amidst the continuous drumbeats, mixed with the "he la he la" sounds keeping the rhythm, on the shore are the cheers of the supporters, who are also the parents, brothers, friends, children, and lovers of the swimmers.

In the past, it was just an internal race of boats in the village. In the following years, the organizing committee expanded the scale to an open Dam River race with racing boats from many other localities in the province and has become an interesting check-in address in the spring days.
