The house is currently used as a church for sect 4, branch 2, Tran clan (Huong Tra Tay) - is one of the houses built more than 200 years ago. Mr. Tran Ba Toan (Chin Du), born in 1954, is the seventh generation to own this house.
The house is made of jackfruit wood, structured in the style of “three main rooms and two side rooms”. There are 30 pillars in total, including 8 main pillars, 10 second pillars and 12 side pillars. The pairs of crossbeams, main pillars, gables... are all elaborately carved and tightly connected to each other.
In particular, the trusses are made in the “three-section truss” style, commonly known as three-section trusses, connected to each other at the contact points through the first, second and side columns. Particularly at the contact point between the two first columns, there is a “bat-wing pumpkin” jack to support the connection between the main beam and the truss.
The house retains intact traces of the ancients, from the wooden bench, altar, horizontal lacquered board, parallel sentences and quite sophisticated carvings...
At the same time as building the house, landlord Tran Van Cong had people plant star apple trees on the large plot of land in front of the house. With good soil and careful fertilization, the star apple tree soon had a large, wide canopy, a place for villagers to stop and rest during hot summer days.
When the custard apples are ripe, their fragrance spreads everywhere. Our ancestors planted custard apples not only for their deep spiritual meaning and beautiful feng shui, but also to wish their descendants and family a long-lasting reputation.
Through the fierce wars, Mr. Cong's fig tree still stands strong. The fig tree is now green, over 30m high, the base diameter is nearly 1.5m, the canopy is 30m wide.
Mrs. Nguyen Thi Nhan, 75 years old, Huong Tra Tay block, said that the star apple tree of landlord Tran Van Cong was associated with the childhood of people of the same generation. From the beginning of June to the full moon of the seventh lunar month, the ripe golden star apples spread their fragrance throughout the village.
With the great contributions of Ba Ho Tran Van Cong, Minister of Personnel Tran Van Thu, then Tran Van Tuoc (Huong Ngan), Tran Van Lang, Tran Van Luu (Ba Luu), Tran Van Sang, Tran Ba Toan... successively preserving and promoting the value of tangible culture.
These “treasures” can contribute to the tourism development of Tam Ky City in the direction of eco-tourism - resort combined with entertainment, cultural and historical experiences as in the city's tourism development project until 2025, with a vision to 2030.
