In early July 2025, Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Foreign Trade of Vietnam ( Vietcombank ) announced the establishment of the Data Block, along with personnel decisions for unit leaders of the Head Office (TSC).

The ceremony was attended by Mr. Nguyen Thanh Tung - Chairman of the Board of Directors; Mr. Le Quang Vinh - Member of the Board of Directors, General Director; Mr. Hong Quang - Member of the Board of Directors and Director of Human Resources; Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Oanh - Member of the Board of Directors; Ms. Phung Nguyen Hai Yen - Deputy General Director; Mr. Nguyen Danh Phuong - Member of the Party Committee in charge of Party affairs; Ms. Doan Hong Nhung - Director of Retail; Mr. Nguyen Hung Thanh - Deputy Director of IT and Digital Transformation; and representatives of leaders of some related TSC units.

At the ceremony, Mr. Dang Binh Nguyen - Head of the Organization and Human Resources Department announced the decision of Vietcombank's Board of Directors on perfecting the organizational model and establishing the Data Division, with 03 affiliated units including: Data Platform Integration Department, Data Science and Engineering Center (with 02 affiliated departments: Data Engineering Department and Data Science Department), Data Administration and Application Center (including 02 affiliated departments: Data Administration Department, Data Analysis and Product Department).

At the same time, at the ceremony, the decisions of the Board of Directors and General Director of Vietcombank on personnel were also announced, specifically: Assigning concurrently the position of Director of Data Division to Ms. Phung Nguyen Hai Yen - Deputy General Director;

Mobilize and appoint Mr. Nguyen Quang Huy - Director of the Center for Data and Analysis to hold the position of Director of the Center for Data Science and Engineering, concurrently holding the positions of Head of Data Engineering Department and Head of Data Science Department of the Center for Data Science and Engineering;

Mobilize and appoint Ms. Nguyen Thi Dieu Thuy - Deputy Director of the Center for Data and Analysis to hold the position of Deputy Director of the Center for Data Administration and Application; assign her to be in charge of the Center for Data Administration and Application and concurrently hold the position of Head of the Department of Analysis and Data Products under the Center for Data Administration and Application;

Mobilize and appoint Mr. Bui Van Bang - Head of Data Management and Reporting Department of the IT Center to hold the position of Deputy Head of Data Platform Integration Department; assign to be in charge of the Data Platform and Integration Department;

Mobilize and appoint Mr. Nguyen Thinh - Deputy Director of the Center for Data and Analysis to hold the position of Deputy Director of the Center for Data Administration and Application. The above decisions take effect from July 9, 2025.

In his speech and assignment, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Tung - Chairman of the Board of Directors said that the establishment of the Data Division is a strategic step of Vietcombank to plan, effectively exploit and transform data into real business value; towards the goal of becoming the number one sustainable bank in Vietnam and reaching international level.

In the context of the country's strong transformation with the goal of developing a digital economy , data is not only a supporting tool, but also becomes a "new resource, a type of strategic asset" - clearly established in Resolution 57-NQ/TW dated December 22, 2024 and the Data Law effective from July 1, 2025.

The Data Block is assigned 5 key tasks: Building a strong foundation; serving in-depth analysis and AI application; developing people - technology - synchronized processes; strictly complying with the law; building a culture of coordination, innovation, and flexible adaptation.

“If data is a new resource, Vietcombank must be the pioneer in effectively exploiting this resource to serve its long-term development strategy. That responsibility depends on the 'drivers' - the leaders and the team assigned to this important task today,” the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Vietcombank shared.

Mr. Nguyen Quang Huy - new Director of the Center for Technology and Data Science delivered a speech accepting the assignment

On behalf of the newly assigned leadership personnel, Mr. Nguyen Quang Huy - the new Director of the Center for Technical and Data Science thanked the Board of Directors for their trust and expectations and committed to making every effort to make practical contributions to Vietcombank's journey of sustainable development and expansion.

The new Director of the Center emphasized that the birth of the Data Block not only carries technical responsibility, but also becomes a strategic partner of the entire system, with the mission of turning data into valuable assets, building a common language for the entire bank, supporting decision-making and product development. This affirms Vietcombank's strong determination to transform, focusing on customers and consolidating its pioneering position in the digital era./.
