Tonight, January 5, Thai Binh Provincial Police confirmed to VietNamNet reporter that Mr. Luu Binh Nhuong's wife proactively worked with the authorities to pay compensation for her husband.
Accordingly, Mr. Luu Binh Nhuong's wife went to the Civil Judgment Enforcement Department of Thai Binh province to pay 300,000 USD (equivalent to more than 7 billion VND) to remedy the consequences for Mr. Nhuong.
After being arrested, Mr. Nhuong authorized his relatives to remedy the consequences on his behalf. Mr. Nhuong's family submitted a petition to the authorities to remedy the consequences.

As reported, on November 14, the Investigation Police Agency of Thai Binh Province Police issued a decision to prosecute and temporarily detain Mr. Luu Binh Nhuong (60 years old, residing in Tay Ho district, Hanoi ) to investigate the crime of "Extortion of property".
Mr. Nhuong's arrest is related to the investigation into the case of Pham Minh Cuong (38 years old, commonly known as Cuong "Quat", has 3 previous convictions, residing in Thuy Xuan commune, Thai Thuy district, Thai Binh province).
On December 26, the Investigation Police Agency issued a decision to supplement the decision to prosecute the case and prosecute Mr. Luu Binh Nhuong for the crime of "Taking advantage of position and power to influence others for personal gain" as prescribed in Clause 4, Article 358 of the Penal Code.
The investigation results determined that during his tenure as a National Assembly Delegate and Deputy Head of the People's Aspirations Committee, Mr. Luu Binh Nhuong took advantage of his position and power to influence others for personal gain. Initially, the investigation agency determined that the amount of money embezzled was in the hundreds of thousands of USD.
