Impact of storm No. 10: Heavy rain in Hanoi, flood warning for Tich and Bui rivers

According to the Northern Hydrometeorological Station, from early morning to noon on September 30, Hanoi city is forecast to continue to have moderate rain, heavy rain, some places very heavy rain and thunderstorms; common rainfall is 30-70 mm, some places higher than 80 mm. Heavy rain causes the water level of Bui River and Tich River to rise, raising the flood alert level I, many inner city streets are at risk of deep flooding.

Specifically, Hanoi had heavy to very heavy rain, the rainfall from 1am on September 29 to 1am on September 30 was generally 70-130 mm, some places were larger such as: Suoi Hai 226.4 mm, Huong Son 172.6 mm, Bat Bat 199.8 mm, Ba Vi 193 mm, Son Tay 160 mm, Quang Oai 157 mm... It is forecasted that from the afternoon of September 30, heavy rain in Hanoi will tend to decrease in intensity and clear up from October 1.

Regarding hydrology, the water levels of the Tich, Bui, and Day rivers are rising rapidly. Based on the actual water levels, on the morning of September 30, the Hanoi City Civil Defense Command issued a level I flood alert on the Tich River in the following communes and wards: Ha Bang, Kieu Phu, Phu Cat, Phu Nghia, Son Tay, Phuc Tho, Doai Phuong, and Thach That; level I alert on the Bui River in the following communes: Xuan Mai, Phu Nghia, Tran Phu, Quang Bi, Hoa Phu, and Phuc Son; at the same time, requested the above units and localities to strictly perform their tasks when level I alert is issued.

The Hanoi City Civil Defense Command also requested communes and wards along the dikes of the Da, Red and Duong rivers to urgently notify organizations and individuals operating on the rivers and riverbanks of the opening of floodgates at the Hoa Binh , Tuyen Quang and Thac Ba hydropower reservoirs so that they can proactively take measures to ensure safety and adjust their activities accordingly; review and ensure the safety of construction works; and not let people go to areas at risk of landslides to avoid unfortunate damage.

Due to the influence of heavy rains, on the morning and afternoon of September 30, many streets are likely to be deeply flooded, such as: Phan Boi Chau - Ly Thuong Kiet, Quang Trung, Tho Nhuom (Cua Nam ward); Hoa Bang, Cau Giay, Xuan Thuy, Phan Van Truong, Pham Hung, Pham Van Bach, Ton That Thuyet, Duy Tan, Tran Quoc Hoan (Cau Giay ward); Yen Hoa, Nguyen Khang, Duong Dinh Nghe, Le Van Luong, Nam Trung Yen (Yen Hoa ward); Quan Nhan, Nguyen Tuan, Nguyen Trai, Le Van Luong, To Huu, Cu Loc, Luong The Vinh, Nguyen Huy Tuong (Thanh Xuan ward); Van Phuc, Nguyen Van Troi, Mo Lao, Phan Dinh Giot, Ngo Thi Nham, To Huu, Chien Thang (Ha Dong ward); Van Phu urban area, To Hieu (Kien Hung ward)...
