Master Tran Van My was elected President of the Vietnam Vovinam Federation.

(NLDO) - The Vietnam Vovinam Federation (VVF) has just held an extraordinary conference and elected a new president when Dr. Mai Huu Tin resigned.

On July 29, at the First Hotel (HCMC), the Vietnam Vovinam Federation held an extraordinary Executive Committee meeting to consider the resignation of Dr. Mai Huu Tin and elect a new President.

As a result, martial arts master Tran Van My - Vice President of the Federation and Chief of Vovinam Viet Vo Dao sect - was trusted to hold the position of President of the Vietnam Vovinam Federation for the fourth term (2023-2028).

At the conference, delegates agreed with Dr. Mai Huu Tin's decision to resign so that he can fully focus on his role as President of the World Vovinam Federation, with the goal of spreading Vovinam more strongly in the international arena, towards the Olympic Games.

"In 2017, I accepted the invitation of Master Nguyen Van Chieu and Mr. Le Quoc An to take on the position of President of the Vietnam Vovinam Federation as a sponsor and liaison with domestic and international authorities.

Now I resign from the position of President of the Vietnam Vovinam Federation to fully focus on my duties as President of the World Vovinam Federation with the goal of spreading Vietnamese martial arts more strongly internationally towards the Olympics" - Mr. Mai Huu Tin expressed.

"The election of martial arts master Tran Van My as President of the Vietnam Vovinam Federation is appropriate as the head of the sect will be the head of the Vietnam Vovinam Federation to have a stronger voice of solidarity in managing domestic movement activities" - Dr. Mai Huu Tin shared.

Taking on the new assignment, martial arts master Tran Van My expressed his appreciation for Dr. Mai Huu Tin's great contributions to the development of Vovinam: "In the past 8 years, since Dr. Mai Huu Tin held the position of President of the Vietnam Vovinam Federation, the position of Vovinam domestically and internationally has been stabilized and raised to a new level.

The Vovinam movement has grown stronger since Dr. Mai Huu Tin created solidarity among martial artists as well as the executive board of the federation. Over the years, Dr. Mai Huu Tin has used his personal financial resources to sponsor Vovinam activities domestically and internationally, which are extremely great contributions. Hopefully, focusing on the position of President of the World Vovinam Federation will help Vovinam develop even more strongly."

In addition, Master Tran Van My also pointed out the key orientations of the Vietnam Vovinam Federation in the coming time, including: Perfecting a suitable operating model, perfecting a streamlined and effective executive committee; Promoting the Vovinam movement among students, armed forces and youth;

Improve techniques, develop martial arts associated with Vietnamese culture; Build a team of highly qualified coaches and referees; Promote solidarity to make Vovinam stronger and stronger.
