The 2025 National Vovinam Championship kicks off

VHO - The 31st National Vovinam Championship (VĐQG) in 2025 kicked off today, September 10, at the Vinh Long Province Multi-purpose Gymnasium. This is the first Vovinam tournament after the units completed the merger of provinces and cities according to the state's policy.

The tournament took place from September 10 to 15 with the participation of nearly 300 athletes from 22 units nationwide, including: An Giang, CAND, Da Nang, Dak Lak, Dong Nai, Dong Thap, Gia Lai, Hanoi , Can Tho, Hue, Khanh Hoa, Lao Cai, Lam Dong, Nghe An, Ninh Binh, Army, Quang Ngai, Quang Ninh, Tay Ninh, Thanh Hoa, Ho Chi Minh City and host Vinh Long.

Athletes compete in martial arts

Athletes compete in 48 sets of medals. Of which, the content of the form with 22 sets of medals: including women's solo, men's solo, women's double, men's double, men's multi, women's multi, team content with men's team (five-door fist), women's team (dragon-tiger fist), men's kicks, women's self-defense, men's basic technical team, women's basic technical team.

In terms of competition, athletes will compete in 26 weight categories. Men's weight categories range from 45kg to over 92kg, and women's weight categories range from 42kg to over 75kg.

At this year's tournament, the organizers made significant changes to the Vovinam competition rules.

The content promises to have many exciting matches.

The 2025 National Vovinam Championship is the first time it will be held after the merger of provincial and municipal units nationwide.

Accordingly, after the merger, many units had a significant increase in force when many quality athletes from other provinces and cities were merged together such as: Ho Chi Minh City, Dong Nai, Da Nang, Vinh Long, Dong Thap, Can Tho, An Giang , Khanh Hoa, Dak Lak, Lam Dong, ...

This increases the quality of the matches and increases the competitiveness of the tournament.

This is also an opportunity to prepare well for localities before the 2026 National Sports Festival in Ho Chi Minh City.

The coaching staff of the Vietnamese Vovinam team said that the players are allowed to return to competition. After the National Championship, the Vietnam Sports Administration and the Vietnam Vovinam Federation will select the best team to participate in the 2025 World Championship, which will take place in Indonesia in early November.
