Pham Gia Bao - Quang Ninh Sports Training and Competition Center, 14 years old - just won a gold medal in the standard solo competition for boys in the 2nd youth group (15 years old and under) at the German Open Championships (GOC) dancesport competition organized by the World Dancesport Federation (WDSF) in Stuttgart, Germany.
Dancesport Grandmaster Phan Hong Viet - Gia Bao's coach in Hanoi - said that GOC held every August in Stuttgart is the largest dancesport tournament in the world .
The tournament attracts nearly 10,000 dancers every year and about 100 world judges.
As an athlete, reaching the finals of the competition was Phan Hong Viet's dream for many years.
But this time, his student won the gold medal. This is the first medal at GOC for Vietnam in 19 years since the first day of participating in the tournament.
Previously, in early August, Pham Gia Bao won the gold medal in the all-around championship in the five standard dances for juniors at the 2024 National Youth and Junior Championship organized by the Vietnam Gymnastics Federation at Quang Yen Gymnasium, Quang Ninh province.
Pham Gia Bao has a special passion for sports dancing. He is currently studying in both Quang Ninh and Hanoi.
In Hanoi, Gia Bao studied at the training center of dancesport champion couple Phan Hong Viet - Thu Trang.
