TPO - With the strong will of a soldier who has been through the war and was affected by Agent Orange, Mr. Truong Cong Ho (Cu Mblim hamlet, Ea Kao ward, Dak Lak province) has built an economy from scratch. From his tireless efforts, his family earns from 300 to 400 million VND each year.

At the age of over 80, Mr. Truong Cong Ho is still as diligent and hard-working as a bee. He takes care of a lush green garden. He said that now, gardening is his old age hobby. Every day he visits the garden, breathes the fresh air, feels a comfortable and relaxed life. He always reminds his children and grandchildren to live responsibly and to make efforts. In the past, he lacked many things but still did it, so now his children and grandchildren have better conditions and must try even harder.

From a soldier facing fire and bullets to a diligent and hard- working farmer, Mr. Ho helps many farming households escape poverty.

In 1977, he returned to Cu Mblim village to live and started building his small home. The couple lived a happy life with 7 children born one after another. But the joy was not complete, unfortunately 3 of them had serious consequences of Agent Orange. Two died early, one still cannot take care of himself. With the tenacious spirit of a soldier, he diligently studied and made a living to support his children to have a proper education.

In addition to the land granted by the State, he reclaimed more than 1 hectare of upland land to grow corn, cassava, and rice, but the income was not much. During his trips to other communes, he saw effective coffee and pepper farms, so he went to learn. After a period of research, realizing that the climate and soil where he lived were suitable, he boldly changed his crops. After more than 5 years of tireless diligence, his coffee and pepper gardens began to bring in a stable income.

He said that at that time, many households in the village did not know how to cultivate. He did not hesitate to share his experience, instructing people on how to prepare the land, choose seeds, and take care of plants.

He mobilized everyone to reclaim land and develop production, determined not to let anyone go hungry. Currently, people's lives are better. People here both develop the economy and join hands to preserve culture.

Thanks to his tireless efforts, his family earns 300-400 million VND per year, depending on the price of agricultural products each year. He has built a solid house, and his children have received a proper education. Up to now, his 4 children all have stable jobs. In everyday life, this soldier still carries in his heart the flame of patriotism and dedication, quietly lighting up the will of the next generation with his own life.
