Faced with heavy floods and prolonged rain, Thac Ba hydroelectric reservoir opened all its spillways, and authorities urgently evacuated people downstream to safety.

To ensure the safety of the project and the downstream area of ​​Thac Ba Hydropower Reservoir, the National Civil Defense Steering Committee requested the Ministry of Industry and Trade to direct functional units to closely coordinate with localities, guide and supervise the Owner of Thac Ba Hydropower Reservoir in the operation to ensure compliance with procedures and related regulations.

Thac Ba Hydropower Plant announced that at 10:00 p.m., the total water flow to the lake was 4,110 ^{m 3} /s, the total flow downstream was 366 m ³ /s.

Currently, all spillways have been opened to ensure the safety of the hydroelectric reservoir. People in low-lying areas and riverside areas at risk of flooding and landslides have been proactively evacuated to safety.
