The Thanh Nam Bridge project is invested by the Hoi An City Investment and Construction Project Management Board. The project spans the Thu Bon River, connecting Cam Chau and Cam Nam wards (Hoi An City), and was started in 2020 with a total investment of more than 337 billion VND.

The length of the bridge is 344m, two approach roads are nearly 200m long. The bridge is designed with 5 spans, two lanes wide (10.5m including the shoulder).

In March 2023, Hoi An City People's Committee held a bridge closing ceremony and according to the schedule, the entire project will be completed by August 2023. However, up to now, the project is in a "standstill" situation.

Many items of this hundreds of billions of dong project have been abandoned for several months now.

The iron bars on the bridge were rusted.

Responding to VTC News, Mr. Nguyen Minh Ly - Vice Chairman of Hoi An City People's Committee confirmed that the reason for the project's delay was due to land clearance problems, which made it impossible to construct the access road.

The two access roads in Cam Chau and Cam Nam wards are currently blocked by one household on each side. The reason is that these households have not agreed to the compensation plan. The people said that the compensation price is only half of the market price so they do not accept it.

Recently, local people have been waiting patiently for the day this bridge worth more than 337 billion VND to come into operation so that travel and trade in Hoi An city will be more convenient.
