The determination of Phu Quy district comes from the fact that the District People's Committee has implemented many solutions to reduce plastic waste and brought about positive changes in the community's awareness of the harmful effects of plastic waste, the benefits of using easily degradable, reusable, environmentally friendly products. Contribute to reducing plastic waste, join hands to build a greener - cleaner - more beautiful Phu Quy district.
However, the movement against plastic waste has not been implemented regularly and continuously, leading to low efficiency and not really entering the real life of the people. The environmental pollution caused by plastic waste is posing many challenges for the sustainable development of the district.
This is also a more specific and effective action to more effectively solve the problem of plastic waste; at the same time, implementing Conclusion No. 908-KL/TU, dated August 11, 2023 of the Provincial Party Standing Committee (term XIV) at the working session with the Phu Quy District Party Standing Committee on the results of two and a half years of implementing the Resolution of the 14th Provincial Party Congress and the Resolution of the 11th District Party Congress, term 2020 - 2025; Plan No. 158-KH/HU dated September 27, 2023 of the District Party Standing Committee on implementing Conclusion No. 908-KL/TU of the Provincial Party Standing Committee; Plan No. 72/KH-UBND, dated May 14, 2021 of the District People's Committee on management, reuse, recycling, treatment and reduction of plastic waste in Phu Quy district.
According to the Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Phu Quy district, in order to unify solutions and demonstrate determination to act, the People's Committee of the district requests agencies, units and businesses to join hands, be more active and decisive. Accordingly, ensure that 100% of passenger trains on the Phan Thiet - Phu Quy route do not use plastic bottles, plastic products, single-use nylon bags; encourage tourists not to throw trash into the sea, not to bring plastic waste to the island.
Canoes take passengers to Hon Tranh Island and other islands. 100% of canoes do not use plastic bottles, plastic products, or single-use nylon bags; tourists are encouraged not to throw trash into the sea or bring plastic waste to Hon Tranh Island. At the same time, passenger transport businesses on the Phan Thiet - Phu Quy route and canoe service businesses do not use plastic bottles, plastic products, or single-use nylon bags, but instead use environmentally friendly bags and packaging, and reusable products; tourists are encouraged not to throw trash into the sea or bring plastic waste to the island.
Along with that, the District Department of Culture - Information, the District Center for Culture - Information - Sports promoted propaganda work on mass media systems and social networks about the movement against plastic waste in the district, created a video clip to propagate tourists to Phu Quy not to bring plastic bottles, plastic products, single-use plastic bags, not to throw garbage into the sea and coordinated with ship owners to broadcast on trains on the Phan Thiet - Phu Quy route with the content "Phu Quy - Destination without bringing plastic items". With that determination, the People's Committee of Phu Quy district also assigned the responsibility to the Phu Quy Port Border Guard Station to preside over and coordinate with the Phu Quy Port Management Board and the District Tourist Area Management Board to regularly inspect, urge, remind and promptly correct. At the same time, propose to commend, honor and reward typical advanced units, good practices to replicate the movement against plastic waste in the district.
The movement will start on March 1, 2024, the peak season for Phu Quy to welcome visitors.
