Building new rural areas in Thanh Hai coastal commune

In 2020, after being recognized as a commune meeting advanced new rural standards (NTM), in recent years, the Party Committee, government and people of Thanh Hai commune (Ninh Hai) have continued to promote the spirit of solidarity, creativity, emulation in production and labor, and improve NTM criteria. Thanks to that, the rural appearance has become increasingly prosperous and people's lives have been improved. Thanh Hai has become a bright spot in NTM construction in Ninh Hai district in particular and the province in general.

Identifying marine economy and agricultural production as the driving force for local economic development. In recent times, the Party Committee and the government have issued resolutions to exploit potentials and strengths to help people develop the economy. Accordingly, the commune has mobilized people to build 49 new ships according to Decree No. 67, 89 and Decree No. 17 of the Government; established 9 solidarity production groups at sea with 115 ships and 2,185 members. At the same time, it encourages and creates conditions for business households, trading, cooperatives, fish steamers, cold storage..., creating jobs to increase income for 500-600 workers/year by developing local OCOP products such as: Shallots, garlic, fish sauce... Thanh Hai people have taken advantage of available resources to develop the economy, thereby helping people's income increase year by year. Visiting the model of growing purple onions according to VietGAP standards of Ms. Pham Thi Hang's family in My Phong village, we can see how the mindset of economic development of the people has changed. Ms. Hang shared: In the locality, purple onions are considered a key crop, thanks to which the local economy has been increasingly developed. Currently, purple onions in the locality have been recognized as a 3-star OCOP product at the provincial level, so the people are very excited, thanks to which prices and consumption output are stable.

Comrade Nguyen Van Tam, Chairman of Thanh Hai Commune People's Committee, said: Implementing the National Target Program on New Rural Construction, in recent times, the Commune Steering Committee has proactively developed a plan and deployed a specific roadmap with the participation of the entire political system as well as the active response of all classes of beneficiaries. In particular, the commune attaches importance to and promotes propaganda and mobilization work to raise awareness of the benefits of the New Rural Construction in the locality among all classes of people, promoting the role and responsibility of exemplary Party members, cadres and civil servants who are pioneers in the New Rural Construction movement and the people as beneficiaries actively respond to contribute their efforts and money, and complete each criterion. Thanks to that, people's income has been gradually increased, many households have become rich. Average income per capita has increased year by year, reaching 57 million VND/person/year, reducing the poverty rate of the whole commune to only 1.28%.

In recent years, Thanh Hai commune has received investment from the State in many infrastructure projects such as electricity, roads, schools, stations, etc. In addition, with the motto "The State and the people work together in the program of building new rural areas", local people have voluntarily donated more than 10,000 square meters of land to build a number of traffic projects and flood drainage canals in the commune. In addition, currently, each village has a model flower road, helping the local appearance change every day in the direction of green, clean, and beautiful. Ms. Pham Thi Duoc, Head of My Hiep village, shared: Responding to the National Target Program on building new rural areas, in recent times, local people have voluntarily donated land to build rural roads. When the model flower road was deployed in the village, people responded enthusiastically, regularly cleaning and watering the trees with the local government, thereby helping the green, clean, and beautiful road change the appearance of a coastal village.

Comrade Nguyen Van Tam, Chairman of Thanh Hai Commune People's Committee added: The results achieved in the construction of new rural areas in the locality in recent times demonstrate the determination of the entire political system and the cooperation of the people. This is the premise for the cadres and people of Thanh Hai commune to continue to improve and enhance the criteria of new rural communes in order to achieve the standard of a model new rural commune by 2025.
