According to RTL Direkt channel, German Federal Defense Minister Boris Pistorius said: "We cannot replace all the damaged tanks at the moment. But what we will do... is to continue delivering repaired Leopard 1 A5 tanks from next July. By the end of the year, the number will be more than 100."
Meanwhile, a spokesman for the German Defense Ministry said on the same day that the German government had no information specifically about the possibility of Leopard tanks being destroyed in Ukraine. The spokesman also could not say whether the destroyed tanks would be replaced by other deliveries. According to information from the Russian side, the country's army destroyed at least 7 Leopard tanks provided by the West in recent fighting in Ukraine.
According to Boris Pistorius, the sad thing is that the nature of war is that weapons, tanks are destroyed and people are killed, but the important thing is that Germany still supports Ukraine.
Meanwhile, White House National Security Council Coordinator for Strategic Communications John Kirby said at a press briefing on June 12: "You saw an aid package announced late last week. I think very, very soon you will see an additional US aid package." He noted that Washington knows exactly what Ukraine needs, including for its current counteroffensive operations.
“What we are focused on providing is to ensure that Ukraine can succeed in conflict,” he stressed.
