On September 15, the Tourism Promotion Center (Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Da Nang City) said it is testing cyclo tours equipped with devices that provide destination information to tourists sitting on the vehicle.

According to the Da Nang City Tourism Promotion Center, the new cyclo tour being implemented combines traditional experiences with the application of technology equipped on the vehicle.

Instead of just sitting in a car and sightseeing, visitors to Da Nang - especially foreigners - will be equipped with a device and headphones throughout the journey through the streets.

Through GPS positioning, the device will automatically activate the commentary each time the vehicle passes a tourist attraction. Wherever the cyclo goes, the device will broadcast information providing historical and cultural stories and introducing the place where the customer is in real time.

Interestingly, cyclo passengers can also interact with the AI ​​Chatbot available in the application to chat and learn more about the place they visit.

Not only in English, the cyclo commentary application in Da Nang is integrated with up to 15 languages ​​such as Vietnamese, English, Chinese, Korean, Japanese...

Choosing a tour along the Han River passing through famous tourist attractions in the center of Da Nang such as Dragon Bridge, APEC Park, etc., Korean tourists expressed their excitement when sitting on an environmentally friendly vehicle and listening to the commentary through headphones. Cyclo is one of the prominent means of transport associated with the image of Vietnamese cities. No longer carrying goods, in Da Nang, Hoi An… cyclo mostly carry tourists to visit destinations in the central area.

According to the Da Nang City Tourism Promotion Center, the idea of ​​equipping cyclos with technology was implemented on August 15 and immediately received positive feedback from tourists.

After considering and proposing many options, 83 drivers in the Da Nang Tourist Cyclo Team were selected to undergo training and instruction on how to use equipment to serve customers.

The 83 cyclos in the project are also designed with the same color and style for identification. The vehicle frame is made of stainless steel, the passenger seats are equipped with cushions and canopies.

Drivers are also health checked, trained in skills, knowledgeable about traffic laws, know foreign languages ​​and have knowledge of tourist attractions in Da Nang city.

From August 15, the first technology cyclo trips were launched and immediately attracted attention. The Da Nang Tourism Promotion Center arranged the schedule of this fleet at tourist attractions such as APEC Park, Dragon Bridge, Han River Bridge, Han Market...

Free until the end of September

A representative of the technology service provider for 83 cyclos in Da Nang said that since the service was put into use, the number of customers booking cyclos with technology-based commentary has increased significantly.

"The commentary service on the technology cyclo tour will be free until the end of September. After this time, customers will pay the fare plus a commentary fee of about 70,000 VND/vehicle during the tour" - said a representative of the service provider.
