Stirring up lunches for primary school students in Ha Tinh like those for 'people on a diet'

TPO - The image of a lunch consisting of only white rice, a few pieces of tofu stuffed with meat, 2 pieces of boiled corn and a little soup at Albert Einstein Inter-level School in Ha Tinh caused a stir in public opinion. A school representative admitted that the meal lacked both quality and appearance.

On October 9, social media spread images of a private school's lunch box in Ha Tinh City, Ha Tinh Province, as if it were for "people on a diet."

According to the photo posted by a parent whose child is studying here, the lunch on October 9th only had white rice, a few pieces of tofu stuffed with meat, 2 pieces of boiled corn, a little soup and a banana. This parent said that the meal was too small, not worth the money paid.

After posting, the online community was very interested and left many comments saying that the school's meals were not commensurate with the value that parents spent. Many people even compared: "The lunch at an international primary school is thought to be for children to lose weight."

According to verification, the above meal is a lunch for primary school students at Albert Einstein Inter-level School (located in Thach Linh ward, Ha Tinh city, Ha Tinh).

Speaking with Tien Phong reporter , Mr. Nguyen Gia Viet - Principal of Albert Einstein School said that the meal posted on social media was the lunch for grades 1-3 at the school at noon on October 9.

“Looking at the picture above, I am also not satisfied with the meal, both in quality and appearance. The school's Board of Directors has held a meeting to request the departments that order food to clarify the quantity and price of today's meal and the whole week. From there, we will consider and come up with a clear plan to ensure meals for the children,” said Mr. Viet.

According to Mr. Viet, the weekly menu for students is prepared in advance and sent to parents for review and comments. The school also established a Food Monitoring Board with the Board of Directors and about 50 parents to check and monitor meals for students. The daily meal for students (including breakfast, lunch and afternoon snack) is 48,000 VND/student for grades 1-3; 50,000 VND/student for grades 4-5; 56,000 VND/student for grades 6-9 and 60,000 VND/student for grades 10-12.

“The lunch that parents posted on October 9th was for 3rd graders at school. The daily lunch menu will change, the price of meals for primary school students is around 20,000 - 30,000 VND/child. I have also proposed, and from October 14th, to arrange 2 savory dishes for students instead of 1 dish as at present and apologize to parents related to their children's meals today,” the leader of Albert Einstein school added.

It is known that Albert Einstein High School (SAE) currently has 1,918 students in grades 1-12. Of which, the primary school has 1,200 students.
