According to ArsTechnica , many YouTube users have complained that video loading performance on this online video sharing platform has become worse when ad blockers are enabled. It seems that YouTube is getting tougher in the fight against ad blockers.

Specifically, many users on Reddit said: YouTube seems to be intentionally slowing down its website when it detects users using ad blockers. They said they witnessed significant slowdowns in loading videos, displaying preview images as well as switching to full screen mode and even scrolling the page.
In fact, Google has been accused on multiple occasions of intentionally slowing down video loading if it detects an ad blocker. Google has even paused the video and prompted to turn off the ad blocker.
YouTube is working to crack down on ad blockers, according to Christopher Lawton, YouTube's director of communications. YouTube confirmed that it has started doing so in some markets since June 2023 and is expanding globally.
However, YouTube's new move is facing a series of mixed reactions. Many users believe that this online video sharing platform is inserting too many ads into video content as well as using many different measures to force users to buy Premium accounts.
