Two warships Rezky and Hero of the Russian Federation Aldar Tsydenzhapov during a port call in Indonesia in November 2024
RIA news agency on February 3 quoted a statement from Russia's Pacific Fleet saying that two warships and a supply ship of this country will conduct anti-submarine and air defense exercises in the Asia-Pacific region.
"As part of the upcoming combat training events, the frigates Rezky and Hero of the Russian Federation Aldar Tsydenzhapov will conduct a number of exercises in the Asia- Pacific region, including maritime air defense and searching for and destroying simulated enemy submarines," the statement said.
Previously in July 2024, Russia sent the Rezky ship and the Gromky frigate to conduct exercises in the above area, including anti-submarine activities and repelling attacks by unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) of hypothetical enemies.
The Rezky frigate was commissioned into the Russian Pacific Fleet in September 2023. The ship can fight enemy submarines and surface ships, attack coastal targets and counter enemy aircraft, according to Russian media.
The Hero of the Russian Federation Aldar Tsydenzhapov was commissioned in December 2020. According to Sputnik, both ships belong to Project 20380 designed by Russia's Almaz Naval Design Bureau to carry out anti-submarine and anti-ship warfare missions.
The corvettes of this project have a displacement of 2,220 tons and a length of 104 m. The ship can carry nearly 100 sailors, reach a maximum speed of 27 nautical miles/hour, operate at sea for 15 days and can carry a Ka-27 helicopter.
Built with composite materials, this class of ships is highly flexible and maneuverable, equipped with sonar radar systems, weapons such as the 100mm A-190 naval gun, guided missiles, torpedoes and the AK-630 30mm naval version automatic close-in weapon system.
