According to the Provincial Statistics Office, Hai Duong's consumer price index (CPI) in July increased by 0.64% over the previous month. The average for the first 7 months of 2024 increased by 2.92% over the same period in 2023.
The reasons for the increase in CPI in July were due to the increase in the basic salary applied from July 1, 2024 from VND 1.8 million/month to VND 2.34 million/month; the increase in gasoline prices after adjustments; and the hot weather causing high demand for electricity and water consumption.
Compared to June, 7 groups of goods and services increased in price, 3 groups decreased in price and 1 group remained stable. Among the groups of goods that increased in price, there were some groups that increased sharply, greatly affecting the CPI such as: Housing, electricity, water, fuel and construction materials group increased by 1.16%, mainly in some items such as household electricity, housing. Transportation group increased by 1.66% mainly in some items such as: gasoline, oil, means of transport. Other goods and services group increased by 5.1% mainly due to a 30% increase in health insurance (due to the adjustment of the basic salary to 2.34 million VND/month, so the health insurance contribution level of families and students also changed), funeral services increased by 0.65%. Food and catering services group increased by 0.34%, mainly in food groups such as livestock meat, processed meat.
Some commodity groups in July decreased in price compared to the previous month such as: garments, hats, and footwear decreased by 0.13%, mainly in ready-made clothing; post and telecommunications group decreased by 0.12%; beverages and tobacco decreased by 0.02%.
