Activision is shutting down the original 'Call of Duty: Warzone'

According to VGC , Activision recently confirmed that it will shut down the original Call of Duty: Warzone game at the end of this year.

"As of September 21, 2023, Call of Duty: Warzone Caldera will be officially shut down. This is part of a plan to help the development team focus more on new Call of Duty content in the future, including the popular free-to-play Warzone game," the company said.

Call of Duty: Warzone Caldera is a rebranded version of the first Warzone game that launched alongside Call of Duty: Modern Warfare in 2020. After Warzone 2.0 was released last November, the original Warzone was renamed to Caldera .

Activision has confirmed that players will still be able to access all of the costumes and weapons they purchased (or unlocked) with the multiplayer modes of premium Call of Duty titles like Modern Warfare, Black Ops Cold War , and Vanguard .

The company also thanked the Warzone fan community with the content: "Thank you to the Call of Duty community and our developers for making Call of Duty: Warzone a great place to play games together."
