Agribank needs to strive to apply some standards in the banking sector sooner.

(Chinhphu.vn) - Today, July 2, at the Government Headquarters, Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long, Head of Steering Group No. 4 of the Government Party Committee, chaired a meeting and gave opinions on the preparations for the Party Congress of the Party Committee of the Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (Agribank).

Reporting at the meeting, Secretary of the Agribank Party Committee To Huy Vu said that up to now, the Agribank Party Committee has 211 affiliated party organizations, including 40 affiliated party cells at the headquarters, 13 grassroots party cells, 158 grassroots party committees (1,531 party cells affiliated to grassroots party committees) with more than 24,500 party members (nearly 60% of the total number of employees).

The Agribank Party Committee directed the organization of model congresses at 2 grassroots party committees, and a pilot congress to directly elect the secretary at 1 grassroots party committee. 20 working groups were established to guide and direct the congresses of party cells and party committees directly under the Agribank Party Committee.

By May 31, 2025, the Agribank Party Committee had completed organizing congresses for 171 grassroots Party Committees and branches. Afterwards, the Party cells and subordinate Party Committees assigned Party Committee members and issued working regulations and regulations on leadership relationships between the Party Committee and the unit heads.

The expected date for the Congress is August 1 and 2, 2025.

After listening to opinions and concluding the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long highly appreciated Agribank's preparation work.

"For detailed comments related to processes, procedures, ceremonies and stages in the preparation work, Agribank closely follows the opinions of members of Steering Group No. 4," said the Deputy Prime Minister.

Regarding the political report, the Deputy Prime Minister suggested writing more concisely, reducing qualitative words. Agribank needs to further study the contents on banking, agriculture and rural development recorded in the documents prepared for the 14th National Party Congress. "Comrades, please closely follow and clarify the good and bad aspects in the banking sector in general, and Agribank in particular."

Regarding the proposed targets, "comrades analyze, evaluate, and clearly state what percentage has been achieved", the Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that the determination of the Party and the Government is very high with the growth target of 8% in 2025 and double digits in the following period.

"So, comrades, can you see if Agribank's corresponding targets can be better?", the Deputy Prime Minister asked Agribank to review its growth potential.

With its large scale, Agribank's personnel plan needs to be carefully prepared, clearly explaining the contents of structure and quantity. The Deputy Prime Minister agreed on the time to hold the Party Congress of Agribank Party Committee.
