An Giang simultaneously starts construction of projects and works to serve APEC 2027 Summit Week

Of these, 7 projects have started construction and 3 projects have been launched, focusing on the fields of transportation, environment, urban infrastructure and technology, with a total investment of more than 9,200 billion VND.

On the morning of September 24, at Phu Quoc Special Zone, An Giang province held a groundbreaking ceremony and launched 10 key projects to prepare infrastructure for the APEC 2027 Summit Week. Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung, representatives of central ministries, branches, An Giang province and many investors attended the ceremony.

This is also one of the activities to welcome the 1st Congress of An Giang Provincial Party Committee, term 2025 - 2030.

Of the 10 projects implemented, 7 projects were commenced and 3 projects were launched, focusing on the fields of transportation, environment, urban infrastructure and technology, with a total investment of more than 9,200 billion VND.

Seven projects started construction including: Provincial Road 975; Project to upgrade and expand key traffic routes, connecting key economic zones; Cua Can Lake; Undergrounding technical infrastructure in Duong Dong and An Thoi areas; Construction of a smart monitoring and control center; Construction of embankments and leveling of the APEC Conference Center; An Thoi resettlement area.

Three projects have been launched: Bai Bon Waste Treatment Plant (Ham Ninh); An Thoi Domestic Solid Waste Treatment Plant; Cua Can Lake Water Plant.

The simultaneous implementation of these large-scale projects is not only to prepare carefully for the APEC 2027 event but also demonstrates the strong determination of the Provincial Party Committee in the first term after the merger. These projects will create momentum for socio-economic development, improve the quality of infrastructure and environment, and turn An Giang into an attractive and modern destination.

According to the leaders of An Giang province, this is a strategic step, laying a solid foundation for the province's development in the near future, especially in the role of a locality hosting an international event.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung highly appreciated An Giang's proactive and active implementation of key infrastructure projects, not only to serve the APEC Summit Week but also to contribute to the sustainable development of the locality and the country. He emphasized that APEC 2027 is a great honor for Vietnam, and at the same time an opportunity to affirm its pioneering role in the region and on the international arena.

“Today, the simultaneous groundbreaking and launch of these 10 projects is not only a meaningful event but also a testament to the careful and determined preparation of An Giang province. Together we are moving towards the goal of building an integrated, developed and prosperous economy,” Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung emphasized.

Vice Chairman of An Giang Provincial People's Committee Ngo Cong Thuc spoke at the groundbreaking ceremony.

The Deputy Prime Minister also directed relevant ministries, branches and An Giang province to coordinate closely and create the most favorable conditions for projects to be implemented on schedule, ensuring quality and efficiency.

He requested that units pay special attention to undergrounding technical infrastructure, environmental treatment and applying smart technology, in order to build a green - clean - beautiful, modern Phu Quoc, ready to welcome international delegates.
