An Giang: Number of fire incidents and damage decreased

On July 16, the Fire Prevention, Fire Fighting and Rescue Police Department of An Giang Provincial Police held a conference to review fire prevention, fire fighting and rescue work in the first 6 months of 2025; deploy directions and tasks for the last 6 months of 2025. Colonel Diep Van The, Deputy Director of the Provincial Police attended the conference.

The Fire Prevention, Fire Fighting and Rescue Police Department, An Giang Provincial Police organized a fire fighting and rescue drill.

In the first 6 months of 2025, there were 22 fires in An Giang province, causing no human casualties, and property damage of about 7,418 million VND. The fire prevention, fighting and rescue police force participated in 7 rescues, found 6 victims' bodies and handed them over to the local authorities and their families, and brought 1 victim trapped under the car out safely.

Compared to the same period in 2024, the whole province reduced 4 fires, 32 forest fires; property damage decreased by 4,394 million VND; participation in rescue and relief increased by 6 cases. Of which, fires mainly occurred in rural areas, accounting for 77.3% and the type of fire with the highest rate was residential houses with 50% of the cases...

The unit has organized and implemented synchronously, drastically, and comprehensively all aspects of work, proactively grasped emerging situations of fire prevention and fighting to promptly propose preventive measures, effectively combat and prevent fire and explosion accidents from occurring; thereby, contributing to reducing the number of fires and damage caused by fires.

Speaking at the conference, Colonel Diep Van The, Deputy Director of An Giang Provincial Police, pointed out that the Fire Prevention, Fire Fighting and Rescue Police force continues to closely follow the direction of the Ministry of Public Security , the Provincial Police and the People's Committee of An Giang Province; closely coordinate with departments, branches and organizations. At the same time, strengthen inspection, propaganda and guidance on fire prevention, fire fighting and rescue to the people to maximize the effectiveness of the "four on-the-spot" motto, promptly extinguish newly arising fires, limit damage to people and property when a fire or explosion occurs.

At the conference, the unit had 8 individuals receiving certificates of merit from the Provincial People's Committee; 1 collective and 60 individuals received certificates of merit from the Provincial Police Director and District People's Committee.
