- A home for people to settle down
- Settle down to rise up
- Help people find jobs after settling down
Immediately after the Notice No. 1085-TB/TU dated March 28, 2025 of the Provincial Party Standing Committee calling on and mobilizing Party members to support the Program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in the province was issued, the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department immediately sent a document to the district Party Committees, city Party Committees, Party Committees directly under the Provincial Party Committee, and provincial departments, branches, sectors and organizations to continue to promote propaganda and disseminate widely among cadres and Party members, considering this an important political task. Accordingly, Party members have done many effective and practical things to contribute to the implementation of the Program.
Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Minh Luan (third from left) surveyed the Temporary Housing Elimination Program in U Minh district (afternoon of May 7, 2025).
A typical example is that party members in the province voluntarily contributed 1 day's salary, providing additional resources to improve the quality of support houses for households. Leading the way are 2 units: the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department, the Provincial Police Party Committee, with a total donation of more than 1.2 billion VND. Mr. Ho Trung Viet, Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department, said: "The fundraising has been carried out by localities within the Party members with a high sense of responsibility and mutual affection. Party members uphold the criteria of everyone contributing whatever they have, in order to increase the value of the houses supported for the people. In addition to the prescribed budget, we mobilized additional resources to support from 5-10 million VND/case to build toilets, creating more living amenities for households. At the same time, Party members were also mobilized to work days to help people reduce the cost of building houses and support some other practical living items."
The Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee has implemented many specific solutions to mobilize party members, especially at the grassroots level, to actively participate in the movement to eliminate temporary housing. Not only being the implementers, party members are also the propaganda force, mobilizing people, businesses, and philanthropists to join in this work. With the motto "party members go first, the country follows", many local party cells and organizations have mobilized people's strength with the prestige and sense of responsibility of party members. Many retired cadres and senior party members have also volunteered to connect with philanthropists and mobilize socialized resources. These drastic actions have created a strong ripple effect.
Mr. Le Thanh Trieu, member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Chairman of the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, said: “Through political activities and people's meetings, the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee coordinates with member organizations to disseminate and popularize the Party's policies and the State's policies on supporting people to stabilize their housing. In addition, the campaigns: "All people unite to build new rural areas and civilized urban areas", "Day for the poor", "Party members help people escape poverty"... have been widely deployed. Thanks to that, almost all Party members in localities in the province voluntarily contribute money, working days, and construction materials to support poor households in building new houses with the government".
At the conference to review the Program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses, Ca Mau City supported 8 districts in the province, each district with 1 house worth 60 million VND.
One of the party members who showed a sense of responsibility and practical support for households was Mr. Le Hong Khanh, Head of My Dong Hamlet, Tran Thoi Commune, Cai Nuoc District. During his work, he understood the circumstances of each person in the hamlet, sympathized with the poverty and landlessness of the families of Ms. Vo Thi Tham (70 years old) and Ms. Diep Thi Hong Le (68 years old), and lent them more than 160 square meters of land to build houses in the Program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses. Thanks to that, 2 households with especially difficult circumstances in the hamlet now have houses and stabilize their lives.
Receiving the help of Mr. Le Hong Khanh, Ms. Do Thi My Thoa (daughter of Mrs. Vo Thi Tham) emotionally said: “When the State supported 65 million VND to build a house, I was very happy because my mother had a place to live, but the difficulty was not having land to build a house. Luckily, Mr. Khanh lent us land to live in long term, about 20-30 years. My whole family and I are grateful to Mr. Khanh. He treats us like family. When I received such help, I am more determined to do business.”
The entire Ca Mau province currently has more than 50 thousand party members, with an average donation of 1 day's salary, along with many practical works that have made important contributions to the Program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in the province. Thanks to the companionship of party members and people from all walks of life, hundreds of temporary and dilapidated houses in the districts of Tran Van Thoi, U Minh, Dam Doi... have been replaced with solid, sturdy houses, helping many disadvantaged families have more confidence and motivation to rise up and escape poverty sustainably./.
