Dien Bien people 'become' soldiers, militia compete in pushing bicycles and carrying ammunition

Amidst the cheers and encouragement of a large number of people and tourists present at the central relic area of ​​Dien Bien Phu base (De Castries bunker), 18 teams from districts, towns and cities in Dien Bien province enthusiastically transformed into soldiers and militiamen to test their skills in pushing bicycles and carrying ammunition on March 17.

This is both a sports competition and an experiential activity recreating the heroic history, the effort to overcome difficulties to support and ensure supplies for the battlefield of the heroic land of Dien Bien Phu.

The competition was a competition between 10 male teams and 8 female teams. Each team consisted of 3 people participating in the relay race of pushing a bicycle and carrying a box of ammunition. The distance of pushing a bicycle was 450m and the distance of carrying a box of ammunition was 150m.

Interestingly, the load capacity of the bicycle pack is up to 100kg and the ammunition box weighs nearly 20kg. The teams compete to push the bicycle pack, load ammunition in the trench area around the relic site, and there are also real scenes staged to recreate history as closely as possible.

The team that completes the race in the shortest time wins first prize, the next teams will win second and third prizes. This is also a collective tournament that requires solidarity and unity among members, each team only completes the race when all members touch the national flag at the finish line.

After moments of dramatic and persistent competition, in the men's team category, the team from Dien Bien Provincial Military Command won first place with a competition time of 2 minutes, followed by the Dien Bien District team. The two teams tied for third place were the Tua Chua District team and Phan Dinh Giot High School.

In the women's team event, first prize went to Phan Dinh Giot High School, second prize went to Tua Chua district and third prize went to Dien Bien district and Dien Bien Phu city teams.

This unique activity also attracts a large number of tourists. The experience of pushing carts and loading ammunition will last until March 18.
