"Mrs. Nam encourages learning"

(Baothanhhoa.vn) - Ms. Do Thi Nam, President of the Association for the Promotion of Education, President of the Association for the Elderly, Deputy Director of the Community Learning Center of Hoang Trung Commune (now Hoang Phu) is loved by many people for her dedication and responsibility for the work of promoting education and talents.

With a warm, friendly smile, she happily told us about her youthful years of dedication to the education career. In November 2020, just 4 months after receiving the retirement decision, she was entrusted with the important responsibility of promoting local education.

Mrs. Nam confided: “I am by nature an active, enthusiastic person, still healthy, and still want to contribute my small part to building my homeland, so when I am trusted and assigned a task, I always try to be responsible and enthusiastic in every activity, actively coordinate with organizations, unions, businesses, and philanthropists to do a good job of promoting education and talent, because it is a necessary task, bringing many benefits, contributing to nurturing the spirit of learning for future generations.”

For Mrs. Nam - who has many years of experience as a school principal, she clearly understands that "to have a strong movement, there must be a strong organization", so she researches, mobilizes, attracts, and entices everyone to participate in the movement to encourage learning and talent, improving the effectiveness of the community learning center. The Hoằng Trung Commune Learning Promotion Association has 1,068 members, accounting for 20.68% of the population in the whole commune, belonging to 11 branches (7 village branches, 1 Catholic branch, 3 school branches); 43 clan learning promotion committees. Thanks to Mrs. Nam's advice on promoting propaganda for learning promotion work through many channels such as conferences, seminars, on the radio system..., the movement to build a learning society with practical learning models in the area is increasingly valued. The locality has launched many models of "Learning Family", "Learning Clan", "Learning Community", "Learning Unit", "Learning Citizen"... With the development of life, in residential areas, many families also pay more and more attention to the education of their children and grandchildren, while promoting the learning movement for all ages. Many branches and clans in the commune have established education promotion funds of 30 million VND or more, operating effectively and meaningfully.

Sharing about the work of promoting education in the locality, Ms. Nam said: The Association for Promoting Education is a special association, with the task of supporting, motivating and encouraging individuals with good teaching and learning achievements, passing university entrance exams as well as overcoming difficulties to excel in studying, cultivating and training. However, the association's operating budget is quite limited, so she has applied the form of socialization, promoting the role of branches, coordinating with agencies and units located in the area to annually organize activities to reward and encourage individuals with achievements. In 2024 alone, the Association for Promoting Education of Hoang Trung commune has reasonably used the existing fund to reward 79 students who won prizes at the district level or higher; coordinated with Factory Z111 to reward 45 gifts to students who have overcome difficulties to excel in studying with a total value of 22.5 million VND. Although the material value is not much, it has practical meaning to encourage them to excel in studying and life.

Mrs. Nam's dedication, enthusiasm and responsibility in her work have contributed to the positive changes in the local education promotion movement, the quality of mass education has been maintained and developed, the quality of key education has been stable, and the socialization of education has been increasingly promoted. For many years, the quality of education in the locality has always been rated as the top in the whole district and has been recognized by all levels and sectors.

With those contributions, Ms. Nam was honored to receive a Certificate of Merit from the Prime Minister and many certificates of merit from all levels and sectors for her achievements in promoting learning, promoting talents, and building a learning society.
