New York State Wants to Encourage International Students to Stay and Start Their Own Businesses

In her recently released New York State 2024 policy proposal, Hochul cites data showing that more than 44% of State University of New York STEM degrees are awarded to international students. According to a 2022 report by the US policy research organization NFAP, one-quarter of billion-dollar startups in the US had founders who first came to the country as international students, and each business created an average of 860 jobs.
