One of the technologies that is transforming the journalism industry is artificial intelligence (AI). With the rapid development of AI, this tool has supported the automation of writing articles, news summarization, trend identification, content optimization according to readers' needs, video creation, podcast production, spell checking and headline suggestions. AI can also automatically transcribe interviews, investigate big data and produce personalized, multi-platform news, helping journalists focus on in-depth topics and long-term investigations.

With AI, Western press is using it a lot, however in Vietnam, the application of AI is still quite slow. Also according to the Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists Association, AI is not only for superficial things but can support the press a lot.

The President of the Vietnam Journalists Association also shared that personalization in journalism is very important. Mr. Le Quoc Minh gave an example, normally if we want to report on the stock market today, we write a summary article: how is the situation today; how did it go up and down, lose points or increase points...

But AI technology can support the production of content specifically for each group of readers who are only interested in stocks of the banking industry, or the steel industry, or foreign investors... At the same time, AI can produce 10 or more articles for an issue and automatically "push" them to people with appropriate needs. AI will also support the newsroom to expand interactions without having to increase staff.

Currently, many domestic press agencies are applying data journalism and visualization. Mr. Le Quoc Minh said that data journalism is a combination of big data analysis, processing and visualization, helping articles become vivid, easy to understand and in-depth, especially with complex social or economic issues, many figures... Along with that, blockchain is also a very big trend in the world press to authenticate content. Blockchain stores metadata about copyright, time of publication, increases transparency, fights fake news and protects global press copyright...

Also at the forum, journalist Le Quoc Minh commented that new technologies will soon appear in the near future, namely augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR). This will bring readers into the virtual world of the article, experiencing events, wars, investigations or reports in a virtualized real space. Investigative journalism, tourism, education... will be strongly inspiring thanks to the immersive experience, multi-dimensional interaction.

Meanwhile, with 3D interactive journalism and Metaverse, newsrooms, reporters and readers can meet, interview, workshop or exchange opinions in 3D space, creating real “interactive journalism”, breaking down geographical barriers.

In his speech, the President of the Vietnam Journalists Association also shared many other things related to technology in journalism, describing the picture of modern journalism with many diverse and multi-dimensional perspectives so that managers and journalists can prepare for the future.

“If the Vietnamese press takes the lead in exploiting new technologies, it will be able to compete and integrate, providing accurate, fair, balanced, vivid and personalized news, serving all classes of the public,” affirmed the Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists Association.
