On September 10, in the atmosphere of the first days of the new school year, the Representative Office of Education and Training Newspaper in the North Central region presented 372 uniforms to all students of My Ly 1 Primary Ethnic Minority School (My Ly commune, Nghe An ).
At the end of July, prolonged heavy rains caused by storm Wipha caused a terrible flash flood, destroying many villages in My Ly commune, one of the most difficult border highland communes in Nghe An province.
According to statistics, the floods caused 219 houses in My Ly to collapse, be buried or be completely washed away. All of the assets and crops that people had accumulated over many years were also swept away by the raging water, making the already difficult lives of the people even more difficult.

Natural disasters not only destroy houses but also severely affect the future of children. My Ly 1 Primary Ethnic Minority School, where 372 students, children of Thai, Mong, Kho Mu ethnic groups, study and live...
Among them, many children were from families that suffered heavy losses. Their houses, properties, and even their few clothes and books for the new school year were swept away by the flood.
Despite the many difficulties they have faced after the natural disaster, parents still try their best to encourage their children to go to school. However, as the new school year begins, deprivation still exists on the children’s journey to literacy.

Understanding and sharing these difficulties, under the direction of the Editorial Board of GD&TĐ Newspaper, the newspaper's representative office in the North Central region connected and mobilized philanthropists and readers to join hands in donating uniforms for the children.
Speaking at the ceremony, Journalist Nguyen Van Dung, Head of the GD&TĐ Newspaper Representative Office in the North Central region, emotionally shared: "When we heard about the heavy losses that the people and students of My Ly had to suffer, we were extremely concerned. With the spirit of mutual love, we quickly called for and connected with golden hearts."

Today’s gift, though small in material terms, contains the feelings and sharing of the philanthropists and readers of the Education & Training Newspaper. The new uniforms will help the children be more confident and happier when going to school, focusing on their studies so that they can become useful citizens for their homeland and country.
Journalist Nguyen Van Dung also hopes that in the coming time, agencies, units and philanthropists across the country will continue to care for and support students and schools in My Ly in particular, as well as other disadvantaged areas of Nghe An in general. Help students have better learning conditions, no one is left behind.

Wearing brand new uniforms, bright smiles appeared on each student's face, dispelling some of the worries and hardships of the days after the storm and flood.
On behalf of the school and students, Mr. Nguyen The Vinh, Principal of My Ly 1 Primary Ethnic Minority School, expressed his emotion and sent sincere thanks to GD&TĐ Newspaper and the benefactors.
"Looking at the bright smiles of the students when they put on their new uniforms today, we cannot describe our emotions. In the midst of the difficulties after the flood, when many students lost all their books and clothes, the presence and sharing of GD&TĐ Newspaper is truly a source of comfort and warm encouragement," Mr. Vinh confided.

In early August 2025, the GD&TĐ Newspaper Representative Office in the North Central region also donated 30 million VND to help My Ly 1 Primary Ethnic Minority School overcome part of the damage caused by floods.
These practical and timely actions are giving teachers and students in the My Ly border area the strength to confidently enter the new school year.
