"Not only Vietnam, international meteorological stations currently share the same opinion that storm Rasaga will strengthen into a super storm in the East Sea," Mr. Huong said.
On the same afternoon, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment sent a document to the People's Committees of coastal provinces and cities from Quang Ninh to Lam Dong requesting them to proactively prepare measures to respond to storm Ragasa.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, by September 23, storm Ragasa entered the northern East Sea with winds of level 14-16, gusts of over level 17, waves over 10 meters high, rough seas, especially dangerous for ships operating in the northern and central areas of the East Sea.
Due to the impact of storm Ragasa, from the afternoon of September 22, the eastern sea area of the northern East Sea has had strong winds of level 8-9. To proactively respond to this storm, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment requires localities to closely monitor warning bulletins, forecasts and developments of the storm.
Localities proactively notify captains and owners of vehicles and vessels operating at sea to proactively prevent and have appropriate production plans, ensuring safety of people and property; maintain communication to promptly handle bad situations that may occur.
Storm Ragasa causes heavy rain in the North and Central regions
Storm Ragasa, when entering the East Sea, will be the ninth storm and the first super storm of this year's rainy season. Due to the influence of Ragasa's circulation, from September 25 to 27, the northern provinces and the area from Thanh Hoa to Hue City are likely to experience widespread heavy rain.
Also according to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, on the afternoon of September 19, storm No. 8 made landfall in the southern part of Guangdong province (China) with winds of level 8-9, the storm moved northwest at a speed of about 10 km/hour and will weaken into a tropical depression but still affect the weather at sea and on land in Vietnam.
Specifically, the northern East Sea has strong winds of level 6-7, gusting to level 9; near the storm center, strong winds of level 8, gusting to level 10. Waves are 3-4.5 m high, seas are rough. Circulation after storm No. 8 will cause heavy rain in the northern provinces on September 21-23./.
