Caught crocodile over 4 meters long after 7 hours of struggling in the river

According to the Mississippi Department of Fish, Wildlife and Parks, the giant 'monster' was caught by hunters on the Yazoo River, on the second day of alligator hunting season in the state.

Don Woods, one of the four hunters, said his group were all experienced crocodile hunters. Shortly after boarding the boat, the group spotted the crocodile and followed it.

“We saw a very long crocodile with a big back. It was like we were following a boat.”

"The alligator bit the hook eight or nine times, but it always got away. It dived, stayed there, and then went away. But the crazy thing is it stayed in the same spot," Woods added.

The crocodile destroyed almost all of the hunters' fishing rods and reels before becoming exhausted after a night of intense writhing.

Finally, after 7 hours of struggling, the hunters were able to pull the "monster" onto the boat.

State wildlife officials say it is the longest alligator ever caught in Mississippi. The swamp monster is more than 13 feet long, weighs 750 pounds and has a waistline of nearly 6 feet.

The previous record was set in 2017, with an alligator caught in Mississippi measuring nearly 14 feet long and weighing more than 750 pounds.

Alligator hunting season is known to take place from August 25 to September 4 every year. Mississippi has regulated the hunting of this reptile since 2005 to properly manage and conserve alligator populations.
