Unexpected results of "scoring" medical facilities in Ho Chi Minh City

(Dan Tri) - Recently, Ho Chi Minh City announced the hospital quality rankings for 2024. Among them, Binh Dan Hospital is in the lead, three medical centers were restructured.

The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health has just announced the 2024 quality assessment results of 124 hospitals and medical centers in the area, excluding facilities under ministries, branches and newly established hospitals under 12 months.

The assessment is done on a 1,000-point scale, of which 550 points focus on quality management capabilities.

Top 10 highest quality hospitals

Topping the list this year is Binh Dan Hospital with 964.15 points, followed by Gia Dinh People's Hospital (963.51 points) and Tam Anh General Hospital (962.57 points).

The next positions respectively belong to City Children's Hospital (956.12 points); Hung Vuong Hospital (954.99 points); Children's Hospital 1 (947.16 points); People's Hospital 115 (936.25 points); Thu Duc City Hospital (928.34 points); Tropical Diseases Hospital (907.30 points); Oncology Hospital (903.06 points).

These are public and private hospitals with the highest standards in quality management, patient care and service improvement over the past year.

10 facilities with assessment scores that need improvement

On the other hand, the 10 medical facilities with the lowest quality scores include: Paris Cosmetic Dentistry Hospital (480.93 points); District 5 Medical Center (541.47 points); JK Japan-Korea Cosmetic Surgery Hospital (553.00 points).

The following hospitals include: Gaya Vietnam - Korea Hospital (569.23 points); Cao Thang Eye Hospital (572.24 points); Saigon Maxillofacial Hospital (600.78 points); District 3 Medical Center (607.43 points); District 10 Medical Center (609.98 points); STO Phuong Dong Hospital (634.11 points); Ky Hoa - MEDIKA Cosmetic Hospital (635.07 points).

Notably, three public health centers in the old Ho Chi Minh City, District 3, District 5 and District 10, were in the group with low evaluation scores. The reason was determined to be the very low bed occupancy rate, only about 6%.

Faced with this situation, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health has decided to restructure the operations of these medical centers. The medical examination and treatment will be transferred to upper-level hospitals, while the district medical centers will focus more on prevention and community health care.

According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health, 100% of the hospitals on the list have installed dissatisfaction survey kiosks to collect feedback from patients. This data is considered an important tool to help units continuously improve and enhance service quality.

Statistics on medical activities in the first 6 months of 2024 show that Ho Chi Minh City received more than 22.4 million outpatient visits, an increase of 10.5% over the same period last year; the number of inpatient treatments also increased by 9.9%, reaching more than 1 million cases.

Meanwhile, Binh Duong recorded outstanding growth with 2.5 million medical examinations (up 46.6%) and 126,000 inpatients (up 5.9%). Ba Ria - Vung Tau recorded 1.9 million medical examinations (down 4.4%) and 153,000 inpatients (up 4.4%).

The results of this hospital quality assessment will be the basis for medical facilities to continue improving services and enhancing patient satisfaction in the future.
