On August 4, Meta - Facebook's parent company launched the "Scam Detection 2025" campaign with the theme "Can you believe this?".

This campaign focuses on raising awareness and equipping people with skills to identify 7 common forms of fraud today, including: text message fraud, romance fraud, investment fraud, identity fraud, online shopping fraud, job fraud and account hijacking fraud.

In particular, Meta will collaborate with Eyeyah!, a visual arts education platform, to introduce a game designed based on common scam scenarios, helping users improve their reflexes and analytical thinking, thereby identifying scam situations.

The campaign also features the participation of content creators in the gaming field in Vietnam such as Meo Simmy, Ngan Sat Thu, Tung Hoa Mi, Hieu LeBlanC and iLoda.

According to Meta, since 2016, the company has invested more than $30 billion in people and technology to protect the safety and security of its platform.

Meta has just launched the "Scam Identification 2025" campaign to equip people with skills to identify current scams.

In 2024 alone, Meta removed more than 15,000 links containing deceptive content in Vietnam and recently removed an additional 10 million accounts impersonating major content producers globally.

Also in 2024, Meta detected and disabled more than 7 million accounts linked to fraud centers in Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia, the United Arab Emirates, and the Philippines.

In addition to cracking down on scam networks, Meta is also expanding its use of facial recognition technology to help prevent scams like celebrity impersonation ads, and to help users recover access to hacked accounts.

Since February of this year, Meta has expanded its testing of facial recognition technology to detect and remove fake accounts that scammers might use.

"Through creative content and interactive games, this year's campaign will help users form the habit of checking and thinking carefully when communicating and sharing information online. This is also how we realize Meta's long-term commitment to building a safe, trustworthy and responsible digital environment in Vietnam," said Mr. Khoi Le, Meta's Country Director in Vietnam.
