US Election: The debate between Mr. Biden and Mr. Trump attracts much attention

A majority of American adults are expected to watch the televised debate between presidential candidates Joe Biden and Donald Trump on June 27 (local time), an event many see as crucial to the campaigns of both candidates.

According to a newly released poll by the Associated Press and the National Opinion Research Center (NORC), the majority of American adults are expected to watch the televised debate between presidential candidates Joe Biden and Donald Trump on June 27 (local time).

Specifically, about 60% of adults in the US said they would definitely or very likely watch the debate live or via video clip, or read or heard commentary about the candidates' performance on the news or social media. Both Biden and Trump supporters saw this debate as a major challenge for their candidate, or considered it an event they could not miss.

Before the debate, both candidates were still generally unpopular with voters, although Mr. Trump maintained a modest advantage in the polls over Mr. Biden.

Meanwhile, on June 26, former Republican congressman Adam Kinzinger announced his support for Joe Biden's presidential re-election campaign, helping to give the Democratic Party a prominent new ally in winning the support of moderate Republican members and independent voters in the official election.
