Bella Macey, 10, lives with her parents in Australia. It all started when the family traveled to Fiji, an island nation in the South Pacific . During the trip, Bella developed an unknown blister on her right foot, according to the New York Post (USA).

Complex regional pain syndrome, which baby Bella Macey suffers from, is known as the most painful and uncomfortable disease ever recorded by mankind.

The blister became infected and worsened. The infection was later treated. Unfortunately, however, it triggered a rare condition called complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS).

The UK National Health Service (NHS) describes complex regional pain syndrome as a condition that causes severe, debilitating pain. It is a type of chronic nerve pain that often occurs after soft tissue injury, surgery, stroke or heart attack.

The disease causes extremely uncomfortable symptoms such as burning pain, constant throbbing pain, usually in the hands and feet. The painful area is also swollen, sensitive to friction, muscles spasm, tremble or weaken, while joints may become stiff and swollen.

In Bella's case, the pain was all over her right leg. "It was throbbing, burning, tingling. I had all kinds of pain I had never felt before," Bella said.

Once a healthy child, baby Bella is now unable to run or participate in any of her favorite physical activities. Even a step of running or walking causes excruciating pain.

"I can't take a bath or soak in the tub. I can't cover myself with a blanket or anything, even putting a piece of paper on my right leg hurts. Anything that touches my leg makes me scream in pain," Bella added.

Her parents were so sad to see their daughter sick that they could only comfort her. "I wanted to hug her so tight but I couldn't because it would make her leg move and hurt," said Emma Macey, Bella's mother.

Despite their best efforts, the family has not been able to find a suitable doctor in Australia to treat their son’s rare condition. Therefore, they need to go to the US where there is a doctor with the expertise to treat complex regional pain syndrome.

Emma and her daughter are planning to go to America. The good news is that they have found a hospital that can treat Bella. The bad news is that Bella will have to travel a lot and will be in pain during the journey.

The family, unsure if they could afford the full cost of treatment, set up a GoFundMe account. The fundraising goal was $157,000, and has so far reached $127,000, according to the New York Post .
