Mr. P. said that his job was at a construction site, exposed to a lot of sun and dust. A week ago, when he woke up, he saw a small pimple appear at the corner of his left eye. After a week, when he woke up in the morning, he tried to open his eyes but still could not see clearly, his left eye felt heavy and painful.
On August 3, Master - Doctor Pham Huy Vu Tung (Ophthalmology specialist, Tam Anh General Hospital, Ho Chi Minh City) said: through eye examination with Japanese slit lamp, the patient's vision is normal but the skin near the left eye and temple is infected and pus. Because of late hospitalization, this area of inflammation spread to the skin of the eye. If not treated promptly, the infection will not only cause eye pain, obstruct vision... but can also affect the structure of the eye.
After 3 days of taking anti-inflammatory drugs, the abscess near the eye gathered into one point and became harder, the eye was no longer swollen and painful. Doctor Vu Tung performed a minor surgery to remove pus and drain the abscess to help the wound heal.
Inflammatory acne and abscesses around the eyes
See a doctor early if there are signs of inflammation, do not rub or touch your eyes
Dr. Pham Huy Vu Tung said that eye swelling is a condition in which one or both eyelids are swollen. There are many causes of eye swelling, including blepharitis, chalazion, allergies, etc. Eye swelling will have symptoms such as puffy eyes, red eyes, itching, light sensitivity, watery eyes, discharge, dry eyes, headaches, etc.
Swelling due to inflammation in the eye or swelling due to inflammation in the surrounding tissue should be examined and treated early. Patients are usually given anti-inflammatory drugs and monitored at home. When the eye area is no longer swollen and painful, a minor surgery can be performed to drain the pus. When monitored at home, if the abscess accidentally ruptures, use antibacterial soap to clean it under running water, and at the same time gently press the palm of your hand to let the pus drain out. Absolutely do not squeeze with your hands, this can easily cause infection and recurrent inflammation.
Even when there is inflammation, minor surgery should not be performed because it increases the risk of infection. Therefore, the patient needs to treat the infection, pain, and swelling before performing minor surgery.
"To prevent inflammation, infection and swelling of the eyes, people should not rub or touch their eyes, wash their hands regularly, cover and clean their face when exposed to dirt, do not share towels or makeup, and change pillowcases regularly," the doctor recommended.
