Former FBI Director James Comey has been indicted on charges of perjury and obstruction of justice.

According to RT on September 25, a grand jury in the Eastern District of Virginia decided to indict former FBI Director James Comey for perjury and obstruction of justice.

The charges relate to Mr. Comey's testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee in September 2020 about the FBI's "Crossfire Hurricane" investigation into Donald Trump's 2016 election campaign.

"No one is above the law. Today's indictment reflects the Justice Department 's commitment to holding accountable those who abuse power and deceive the American people. We will pursue the truth in this case," Attorney General Pamela Bondi wrote on X.

"For too long, past (FBI) leadership and their supporters have weaponized federal law enforcement, damaging once-proud institutions and severely eroding public trust," FBI Director Kash Patel said on X.

Meanwhile, former FBI Director James Comey asserted his innocence.

"I have confidence in the federal justice system and I am innocent. Let's get this trial and keep the faith," Mr. Comey said in a video posted on Instagram on the evening of September 25.
